Знаешь ли ты время, когда рождаются дикие козы на скалах, и замечал ли роды ланей?
Do you know the time when wild goats are born on the rocks, and have you noticed the birth of fallow deer?
можешь ли расчислить месяцы беременности их? и знаешь ли время родов их?
can you calculate the months of their pregnancy? and do you know the time of their birth?
Они изгибаются, рождая детей своих, выбрасывая свои ноши;
They bend, giving birth to their children, throwing away their burdens;
дети их приходят в силу, растут на поле, уходят и не возвращаются к ним.
their children come into strength, grow in the field, leave and do not return to them.
Кто пустил дикого осла на свободу, и кто разрешил узы онагру,
Who set the wild ass free, and who loosed the onager's bonds,
которому степь Я назначил домом и солончаки жилищем?
to whom I have appointed the steppe as a home and the salt marshes as a dwelling?
Он посмевается городскому многолюдству и не слышит криков погонщика,
He laughs at the city crowd and does not hear the cries of the driver,
по горам ищет себе пищи и гоняется за всякою зеленью.
he searches for food in the mountains and chases after all kinds of greenery.
Захочет ли единорог служить тебе и переночует ли у яслей твоих?
Will the unicorn want to serve you and spend the night at your manger?
Можешь ли веревкою привязать единорога к борозде, и станет ли он боронить за тобою поле?
Can you tie a unicorn to a furrow with a rope, and will he harrow the field after you?
Понадеешься ли на него, потому что у него сила велика, и предоставишь ли ему работу твою?
Will you trust in him, because his strength is great, and will you give him your work?
Поверишь ли ему, что он семена твои возвратит и сложит на гумно твое?
Will you believe him that he will return your seeds and put them on your threshing floor?
Ты ли дал красивые крылья павлину и перья и пух страусу?
Did you give beautiful wings to the peacock and feathers and fluff to the ostrich?
Он оставляет яйца свои на земле, и на песке согревает их,
He leaves his eggs on the ground and warms them on the sand,
и забывает, что нога может раздавить их и полевой зверь может растоптать их;
and forgets that the foot can crush them and the beast of the field can trample them;
он жесток к детям своим, как бы не своим, и не опасается, что труд его будет напрасен;
he is cruel to his children, as if they were not his own, and is not afraid that his work will be in vain;
потому что Бог не дал ему мудрости и не уделил ему смысла;
because God did not give him wisdom and did not give him meaning;
а когда поднимется на высоту, посмевается коню и всаднику его.
and when he rises to the heights, he laughs at the horse and his rider.
Ты ли дал коню силу и облек шею его гривою?
Did you give the horse strength and clothe his neck with mane?
Можешь ли ты испугать его, как саранчу? Храпение ноздрей его ужас;
Can you scare him away like a locust? The snoring of his nostrils is his horror;
роет ногою землю и восхищается силою; идет навстречу оружию;
digs the ground with his foot and admires the strength; goes towards the weapon;
он смеется над опасностью и не робеет и не отворачивается от меча;
he laughs at danger and is not timid and does not turn away from the sword;
колчан звучит над ним, сверкает копье и дротик;
the quiver sounds above him, the spear and javelin sparkle;
в порыве и ярости он глотает землю и не может стоять при звуке трубы;
in impetus and rage he swallows the earth and cannot stand at the sound of the trumpet;
при трубном звуке он издает голос: гу! гу! и издалека чует битву, громкие голоса вождей и крик.
at the sound of a trumpet he makes a voice: hoo! hoo! and from afar he senses the battle, the loud voices of the leaders and the cry.
Твоею ли мудростью летает ястреб и направляет крылья свои на полдень?
Does the hawk fly with your wisdom and guide its wings to the noonday?
По твоему ли слову возносится орел и устрояет на высоте гнездо свое?
Is it at your word that the eagle ascends and builds its nest on high?
Он живет на скале и ночует на зубце утесов и на местах неприступных;
He lives on a rock and spends the night on the jagged cliffs and in inaccessible places;
оттуда высматривает себе пищу: глаза его смотрят далеко;
from there he looks out for food: his eyes look far away;
птенцы его пьют кровь, и где труп, там и он.
His chicks drink blood, and where the corpse is, there he is.
И продолжал Господь и сказал Иову:
And the Lord continued and said to Job:
будет ли состязающийся со Вседержителем еще учить? Обличающий Бога пусть отвечает Ему.
will he who competes with the Almighty still teach? He who reproaches God, let him answer Him.
И отвечал Иов Господу и сказал:
And Job answered the Lord and said:
вот, я ничтожен; что буду я отвечать Тебе? Руку мою полагаю на уста мои.
behold, I am insignificant; How will I answer You? I place my hand on my mouth.
Однажды я говорил, теперь отвечать не буду, даже дважды, но более не буду.
I said once, now I won’t answer, not even twice, but I won’t answer again.
