"Solarcoaster", "Seven Cities", "Release" and other Solarstone compositions are written in golden letters in the book of dance music history. However, it is a mistake to believe that all achievements are in the past. Improving and transforming, creating new trends, conquering continent after continent - the sound of the “sun stone” is constantly evolving. At the same time, it is always easy to distinguish among modern musical abundance - thanks to the filigree combination of relaxing melodies and energizing rhythm. Once again this fact is confirmed by the newest Solarstone album - "Rain Stars Eternal".


История Solarstone берет корни в далёком 1995 году, когда Рич Моуэтт (Rich Mowatt), клавишник малоизвестной британской группы Emission, знакомится с диск-жокеем местной пиратской радиостанции Энди Бэри (Andy Bury). Вдохновлённый новейшими музыкальными течениями, носящий длинные дрэды и подрабатывающий мастером в пирсинг-салоне Рич — просто звонил на станцию во время эфира Энди, чтобы под видом фаната заказать последнюю работу своего коллектива. Стандартный трюк, но в последствии этот звонок стал судьбоносным для обоих.
The story of Solarstone dates back to 1995, when Rich Mowatt, keyboardist for the little-known British band Emission, met Andy Bury, a disc jockey at a local pirate radio station. Inspired by the latest musical trends, wearing long dreadlocks and moonlighting as a master in a piercing salon, Rich simply called the station during Andy’s broadcast to order the latest work of his band, under the guise of a fan. A standard trick, but later this call became fateful for both.

After talking, Rich and Andy found many common ground. As it turned out, they loved to spend time in the same nightclub; their preferences and tastes in electronic music completely coincided. Moreover, Andy Bary even considered himself a fan of Rich’s band, Emission. Soon after meeting in person, Andy introduces Rich to his friend, underground sound producer Sam Tierney, and the three decide to get together in the studio. Thus was born the first mini-album "Aquanaut E.P", which was released under the name The Space Kittens on its own on a specially created Sunflower Vibes label.

В числе первых, хаус-обработку от "космических котят" получили композиции поп-звёзд Джимми Соммервиля (Jimmy Sommerville, солист группы Bronski Beat), Human League и Лайзы Мориш (Lisa Moorish).
Having fallen into the hands of the almighty Pete Tong, the tracks of the mini-album immediately appeared on BBC Radio 1. Not without his patronage, the most powerful work of the record, “Storm”, was signed for publication on the legendary British label Hooj Choons. The debut single reached number 47 on the national charts - not a bad result for a house track. The trio was noticed and naturally bombarded with orders for remixes. Among the first to receive house treatment from the “space kittens” were compositions by pop stars Jimmy Sommerville (lead singer of Bronski Beat), Human League and Lisa Moorish.

Some time later, as a result of long experiments in the studio, the track “The Calling” was born - one of the first compositions that combined a broken rhythm and motifs of the increasingly popular trance. Red Jerry, head of Hooj Choons, was quick to describe the track as "ahead of its time." Since the trio's new sound was significantly different from their previous work, it made sense to release the track under a new name. Despite the label's insistence that the project be called "The Pleasure Tendency" (just imagine that name next to the legendary compositions!), Rich, Andy and Sam settled on the name "Solarstone".

И снова парни сосредотачиваются на ремиксах: новое, революционное звучание обретают легендарные композиции "Cafe del Mar" от Energy 52, "Home" от Chakra, и несколько других. Вместе со многими последующими работами Solarstone, эти треки до сих пор регулярно переиздаются, обрастают новыми версиями, мелькают практически на каждой второй CD-подборке "танцевальной классики".
Again - success in the charts, new recruits in the army of the band's fans, positive reviews from critics from leading music magazines. And again the guys focus on remixes: the legendary compositions “Cafe del Mar” from Energy 52, “Home” from Chakra, and several others take on a new, revolutionary sound. Together with many subsequent works by Solarstone, these tracks are still regularly re-released, acquired new versions, and appear on almost every second CD collection of “dance classics”.

1999 comes, and the team suffers its first loss. The guys create several more side projects, in which they try different styles and directions, but do not achieve commercial success with them. As a result, the decision was made to concentrate on the most successful sound - a combination of trance, chill-out and other styles: the sound of Solarstone. Sam Tiny categorically disagrees with this turn of events and leaves the team.
