Feed the family?
В трактир ходить?
Go to the tavern?
И на опушке как-то раз,
And once on the edge of
С небес раздался громкий глас:
There was a loud voice from heaven:
Без страха глубже в лес иди,
Without fear deeper into the forest, go,
Минуй овраги, бурелом,
Passing the ravines, Budel,
Там ты найдешь все то чего,
There you will find everything that,
Безбедным сделает твой дом.
Your house will make it comfortable.
Мой дед послушал голос тот,
My grandfather listened to the voice
И в чащу леса ринул,
And rushed into the thicket of the forest,
Прошел овраг и бурелом,
Passed a ravine and a boilia,
Уставший вдруг увидел он
He suddenly saw a tired
Из злата дуб, поросший мхом
From gold oak overgrown with moss
И с плеч топор свой скинул.
And he threw off his ax from his shoulders.
Он дуб срубил.
He cut off the oak.
Домой стащил.
He pulled home.
Его продал,
Sold it,
Богатым стал.
He became rich.
И благодарен всякий раз,
And grateful every time
Что с неба молвил громкий глас:
What a loud voice said from the sky:
Без страха глубже в лес иди,
Without fear deeper into the forest, go,
Минуй овраги, бурелом,
Passing the ravines, Budel,
Там ты найдешь все то чего,
There you will find everything that,
Безбедным сделает твой дом.

Мой дед с тех пор в достатке жил,
My grandfather has been in abundance since then,
Твердил лишь ежедневно,
I insisted only daily
Чтоб я без страха в лес ходил,
So that I go to the forest without fear,
Топор острее что б точил,
The ax was more acute,
Всегда готов к работе был.
It was always ready for work.
И будет жизнь безбедна.
And life will be comfortable.
Дрова руби,
Ruby firewood,
Домой носи,
Band home,
Семью корми,
Family feed,
В трактир ходи!
Go to the tavern!
И лишь невзгод наступит час,
And only adversity will come an hour
Я тут же слышу деда глас:
I immediately hear my grandfather's voice:
Без страха глубже в лес иди,
