1 He answered me and said, “Measure the time in yourself, and when you see that some of the signs that were previously mentioned have passed away, 2 then you will understand that this is the time in which the Most High will begin to visit the age that He created. 3 When the shaking of places and the turmoil of peoples is revealed in the age, 4 then you will understand that the Most High has spoken of these things from the days that were before you, from the beginning. 5 As everything created in the age has a beginning, and likewise an end, and the end is clearly visible: 6 so also the times of the Most High have beginnings that are revealed by miracles and powers, and endings that are manifested by actions and signs. 7 Everyone who is saved and is able by his works and by the faith by which you believe to escape these calamities, 8 will remain and will see My salvation on My land and within My borders, which I have sanctified for Myself from the beginning. 9 Then shall they regret that now have forsaken my ways, And they that despise them shall abide in torment. 10 As many as knew me not, while they received benefits in this life, 11 And abhorred my law, And understood it not, But despised it, While they yet had liberty, And while place of repentance was yet open unto them, 12 These shall know me after death in torment. 13 Be not curious any more how the wicked shall be tormented: But inquire how the righteous, To whom the world belongeth, And for whose sake the world is, shall be saved, And when. 14 Then answered I and said, 15 I have said before, And now say I, And will say hereafter, That there are more of them that perish than they that shall be saved, As the wave is greater than the raindrop. 16 He answered me and said, 17 As is the field, So is the seed; As is the flower, So is the color; As is the laborer, So is the work; like as the husbandman, so also is his tilling: for that was the time of the age. 18 When I prepared the age before it was, for them to dwell in it, no man spoke against me. 19 But now that the age has been formed, the habits of the creatures have been corrupted by the unfailing harvest, by the unsearchable law. 20 Then I considered the age, and, behold, there was danger through the devices that were conceived in it. 21 I saw it, and spared it, and kept for myself one grape of the cluster, and one planting out of the multitude. 22 Let the multitude perish which is born in vain, but my grape and my planting shall be preserved, which with much pains I have made grow. 23 But when you, after seven other days, without fasting in them, 24 go out into a flowery field, where there is no house built, and eat only the flowers of the field, and do not eat meat or drink wine, but only the flowers, 25 pray to the Most High continually, and I will come and talk with you. 26 So I went, as He told me, to the field that is called Ardath, and I sat there among the flowers and ate of the herbs of the field, and their food satisfied me. 27 After seven days I lay down on the grass, and my heart was troubled again as before. 28 Then my mouth was opened, and I began to speak before the Most High and said: 29 O Lord, what is this that I have done for you? You revealed Yourself to us, You appeared to our fathers in the impassable and barren desert when they came out of Egypt, 30 and said, “Listen to Me, Israel, and give ear to My words, O seed of Jacob. 31 Behold, I sow My law in you, and it will bear fruit in you, and you will be glorified in it forever.” 32 But our fathers, having received the law, did not fulfill it, and did not keep Your statutes, and although the fruit of Your law did not perish and could not perish, because it was Yours, 33 but those who received the law perished, not keeping what was sown in it. 34 Now it commonly happens, that when the earth has received seed, or the sea a ship, or any vessel food or drink, and if that in which it was sown or that in which it was placed is corrupted, 35 then that which was sown or placed or received perishes together, and that which was received no longer remains before us. But it is not so with us. 36 We who received the law are destroyed by sinning, and likewise our heart which received it. 37 But the law perished not, but remains in its force. 38 While I was speaking these things in my heart, I looked with my eyes, and saw a woman on my right hand, and, behold, she was weeping and lamenting with a loud cry, and was greatly grieved in soul; and her clothes were rent, and ashes were on her head. 39 Then I left the thoughts with which I was engaged, and turned to her, and said to her, 40 Why weepest thou, and why art thou so grieved in soul? 41 She said, "Leave me alone, my lord, so that I may weep for myself and add to my sorrow; for I am greatly grieved in soul and greatly humbled." 42 Then I asked her, "What have you suffered?" Tell me. And she answered me, "43 I, your servant, was barren and did not bear children after I had an husband for thirty years. 44 Every hour and every day during those thirty years I prayed to the Most High without ceasing. 45 And God heard me, your servant, after thirty years, and saw my lowliness, and listened to my affliction, and gave me a son. I rejoiced greatly in him, and so did my husband and all my fellow citizens, and we greatly glorified the Most High. 46 I nursed him with great labor, 47 and when he grew up and went to take himself a wife, I made a day of feasting.
