Master of Reality is the third studio album of the British rock band Black Sabbath, recorded by producer Roger Bane in the Record Plant studio (Los Angeles, California) and released on July 21, 1971. The album rose to the 5th place in the UK Album Charts lists and to the 8th in Billboard 200. The list of 500 best albums of all time Rolling Stone magazine takes 298 place.

Shortly before starting work on the album, guitarist Tony Aimmy, who played with tips-prostheses, lowered the strings into three half-tones to loosen the load on the injured fingers. The bass player Giser Butler did the same: this was the new, weighted sound that influenced many musicians who later began to perform Stoner and Sludge-metal.

Основные темы альбома — религия, война, наркотики, отчужденность и одиночество. Но если в тексте «Hand Of Doom» (из альбома Paranoid) наркотики осуждались как социальное зло, то здесь «Sweet Leaf» — восторженный гимн марихуане. Две песни, имеющих отношение к Богу и религии — «After Forever» и «Lord of This World». «Children Of The Grave» продолжает антивоенную тему (начатую в «War Pigs»), а «Into The Void» (о переживших ядерную катастрофу людях, уносящихся на космических кораблях в космическую бездну прочь от опустошенной Земли) может считаться продолжением «Electric Funeral».

The main topics of the album are religion, war, drugs, alienation and loneliness. But if in the text “Hand of Doom” (from the Paranoid album), drugs were condemned as social evil, then “Sweet Leaf” is an enthusiastic anthem of marijuana. Two songs related to God and religion are “After Forever” and “Lord of this World”. “Children of the Grave” continues the anti -war theme (begun in “War Pigs”), and “Into The Void” (about the people who have survived the nuclear disaster, which take place on spacecraft to the space abyss away from the devastated land) can be considered a continuation of “Electric Funeral” .
