A strong wind blew and tore the roofs.
И, несмотря на поздний час,

В округе вряд ли кто-то спал -
Hardly anyone was sleeping in the area -
Стихия не на шутку разошлась.
The elements were in earnest.


Но вдруг какой-то парень с криком побежал
But suddenly some guy ran screaming
И принялся махать метлой:
And he began to wave the broom:
"Ах, ветер, негодяй, ты спать мне помешал,
"Oh, the wind, you scoundrel, you prevented me from sleeping,
А ну-ка выходи на бой!"
Come on, go out and fight!"


Я ведь не из робких,

Ветра проучу!

И ветер закружился, заметался
And the wind swirled and tossed
И ели начал с корнем рвать:
And he began to tear out the spruce by the roots:
"Откуда этот сумасшедший взялся,
"Where did this crazy guy come from?
Что хочет с ветром воевать".
That he wants to fight the wind."


Но парень не сдавался и метлой махал,
But the guy didn’t give up and waved his broom,
И удалялся вглубь полей.
And he moved deeper into the fields.
И впрямь неплохо с ветром воевал,
And he really fought well with the wind,
А ветер становился злей...
And the wind became angrier...


Я ведь не из робких,

Сильный я и ловкий,
I am strong and dexterous,
Ветра проучу!
I'll teach the wind a lesson!


Но вдруг метла со свистом улетела прочь
But suddenly the broom flew away with a whistle
И храбрый парень вслед за ней.
And a brave guy follows her.
А после этого спокойней стала ночь -
And after that the night became calmer -
Исчез во мраке дуралей.
Disappeared into the darkness of the fools.


Его под утро пастухи нашли в стогу -
In the morning the shepherds found him in a haystack -
Он очень крепко спал,
He slept very soundly
А ветер песни напевал ему
And the wind sang songs to him
И кудри ласково трепал.
And he ruffled his curls tenderly.
