God is an Astronaut (gɔd.iz.æn.ˈæstrɘnɔ:t; в пер. с англ. «Бог — астронавт») — ирландский инструментальный коллектив, исполняющий музыку в стиле пост-рок.
God is an Astronaut (gɔd.iz.æn.ˈæstrɘnɔ:t; translated from English as “God is an Astronaut”) is an Irish instrumental band performing music in the post-rock style.


Термин «пост-рок» был введён Саймоном Рейнолдсом в своём обзоре альбома группы Bark Psychosis «Hex». Статья была опубликована в марте 1994 года в журнале «Mojo Magazine». Позднее Рейнолдс развил эту идею в 123-м номере музыкального журнала «The Wire».
The term "post-rock" was coined by Simon Reynolds in his review of Bark Psychosis' album Hex. The article was published in March 1994 in Mojo Magazine. Reynolds later developed this idea in issue 123 of the music magazine The Wire.

He used the term "post-rock" to describe music "where rock instrumentation is used for non-rock purposes, guitars are used to create timbres and textures rather than riffs and chords." Later, he also outlined the prospects of post-rock: Perhaps one of the prospects for the development of music in the future lies... in cybernetic rock; not only the Techno methodology, but also some kind of relationship between traditional instrument playing and the use of digital effects and accessories.
