В апреле 1961 года группа The Beatles отправилась на вторые гастроли в Гамбург, где выступала три месяца в клубе «Top Ten». Именно в Гамбурге состоялась первая профессиональная запись The Beatles — в качестве аккомпанирующего ансамбля певца Тони Шеридана. Шеридан позиционировался как рок-н-ролльный певец для внутреннего западногерманского рынка. Запись проходила под руководством Берта Кемпферта, который и отобрал The Beatles. Первым итогом записей стал вышедший в августе 1961 года в Германии сингл «My Bonnie / The Saints» с указанием исполнителей — Тони Шеридан и … «The Beat Brothers». Так для немецкого рынка, из-за соображений благозвучности, были названы The Beatles.
