Maha Mrityunjaya mantra

Maha Mrityunjaya (victory of death) is one of the most ancient and powerful mantras of the Vedic era.

The mantra is given in Mandala 7 of the Rig Veda. This is a life-giving and healing mantra. It can protect against incurable diseases, accidents. Repeated reading of this mantra can restore metabolic processes, stop the aging process in the body and rejuvenate the physical body. This mantra is prescribed in difficult, sometimes hopeless cases and to neutralize adverse planetary influences. It is called great and even magical. It gives long life, healing, energy, power, stability and strength.

The Mahamrityunjaya mantra works effectively even without direct transmission. The Mahamrityunjaya mantra changes the perception of a person who is used to facing obstacles and illnesses from hostile or distrustful towards the outside world to friendly.

Further, depending on the requests and characteristics of a person, this mantra softens or completely dispels anxiety. The purpose of this mantra is to direct consciousness towards self-realization and liberation from the cycle of births and deaths.

"Om! I worship the Three-eyed Lord Shiva, Fragrant, Bringing Good! Destroying the bonds of birth and death. May He free us from death for the sake of Immortality!" Tryambakam - refers to the three eyes of Lord Shiva. Triya means three, Ambakam means eyes. These are the three eyes or sources of enlightenment - the Trimurti or the three primary deities, namely: Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva and the three AMBAs (also meaning Mother or Shakti) - Saraswati, Lakshmi and Gowri. Thus, by this word we refer to God as Omniscient (Brahma), Omnipresent (Vishnu) and Omnipotent (Shiva). This is the wisdom of Brihaspati and the indication of Sri Dattatreya, who has the three heads of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.

Yajamahe - means "We sing Your praise."

Sugandhim - refers to His fragrance (knowledge, presence and power, i.e. three aspects) as the best and always spreading around. The fragrance has to do with the enjoyment we get from knowing, seeing or feeling His virtuous deeds.

Pushtivardhanam: Pushan is He, the maintainer of this world, and in this sense He is the Father of everything.

Urvarukamiva: Urva means vishal or big and powerful or extremely. Arukam means disease. Thus aruka means severe illness. Diseases, also of three types, are caused by the influence (negative) of the three Gunas, and there is ignorance (Avidya), falsity and weakness (Shadripu).

Bandhanan means bound; thus, when read from Urvarukamiva, it means "I am bound by ignorance and ignorance."

Mrityor Mukshiya means liberation from death, both premature death in this physical world, and from the repeated cycle of death-rebirth.

Maamritat - means "please give me Amritam - the nectar of immortality."

3. We worship the three-eyed Lord (Shiva), filled with sweet fragrance, nourishing all beings. Just as a ripe cucumber is separated from the stem, may it free me from the shackles of samsara and death, and may it strengthen me in immortality.
