...I see how the pilgrims left the Enchanted Country and entered the Country of Combination, where the air is clean, the road is smooth. For some time they walked in silence, enjoying the amazing beauty of nature. The chirping of birds, the fragrance of herbs and flowers, the cooing of turtledoves... Here the sun shines day and night: the Valley of the Shadow of Death and the castle of Doubt with the giant Despair are very far away... But the Heavenly City is clearly visible - the goal of the entire journey. They have already begun to meet the inhabitants of this City. It was here that the union of the Bridegroom and the Bride was concluded, and as the bridegroom rejoices in his bride, so God rejoices at the sight of His redeemed... Our wanderers did not need either wine or bread here, for they found in abundance everything that they had found with difficulty throughout their entire journey. They even heard loud voices coming from the City itself: "Say to the daughter of Zion: Your Savior comes; His reward is with Him," and the inhabitants of the country addressed them: "Holy people, redeemed by the Lord!"

In this wonderful country, their hearts were filled with a feeling of joy hitherto unknown to them. And the closer they approached the City, the clearer its contours became. The facades of the houses were decorated with precious stones, each gate was made of a single pearl, and the pavements were paved with gold. All this brilliance, all this splendor, the sun's rays reflected in them, aroused in the hearts of the pilgrims a passionate desire to see their Savior.
