Молчат старуха и старик,

Воды набрали в рот.

Ночные гости из печи
Night guests from the furnace
Берут по пирогу,
Take it on the pies
И потроха, и петуха, -
And gutted and rooster, -
Хозяйка - ни гуту.

Нашли табак у старика.
Found tobacco from the old man.
- Хороший табачок! -
- Good tobacco! -
Из бочки выпили пивка.
They drank a beer from the barrel.
Хозяева - молчок.
The owners are silent.


Все взяли гости, что могли,
Everyone took the guests that they could
И вышли за порог.
And they went out of the threshold.
Идут двором и говорят:
They go to the courtyard and say:
- Сырой у них пирог!
- They have a damp pie!


А им вослед старуха: - Нет!
And after them the old woman: - No!
Пирог мой не сырой! -
My pie is not raw! -
Ей из угла старик в ответ:
The old man in response from the corner:
- Старуха, дверь закрой!
- Old woman, close the door!
