Видно, жить надоело ему.

Видел свой собственный дом.

Жену и детей, что играют в траве,
Wife and children who play in the grass,
Поля и зелень лугов,
Fields and greens of meadows,
Воду реки, что бежит среди скал,
The water of the river that runs among the rocks,
И яркий шатёр лесов,
And a bright tent of forests,


Слушая песню, стояли они,
Listening to the song, they stood,
Взгляд устремив в никуда,
Looking to nowhere, gaze,
Из пальцев разжатых упали мечи,
Swords fell from the fingers of the unclenched
Не причинив вреда.
Not harm.


Менестрель же всё пел про леса и поля,
The minstrel, on the other hand, sang about forests and fields,
Про ветер c родных сторон.
About the wind from the native sides.
Закрылись глаза, и упали бойцы.
His eyes closed and the fighters fell.
Овладел ими крепкий сон.
A strong dream took possession of them.


Менестрель же, песню допев до конца,
Menstrel, the song has been completed to the end,
Бархат плаща сбросил с плеч,
The velvet of the cloak threw off his shoulders
И посмотрев на кольцо на руке,
And looking at the ring on the hand,
Вынул спрятанный меч.
He took out a hidden sword.
