The most famous work of Alvina Lucier was first fulfilled in 1969 in Brandeis University. The essence of this experiment is simple and, in fact, is reflected in the speech of the musician. There are two recording devices. On one of them, Olvin records his speech, after which he immediately loses it, while the second voice recorder repeats, but already a voice recorded on the first device and reflected from the walls of the room. Then the process of overwriting is repeated again and again, each time there is an increasingly distorting voice under the influence of the resonant characteristics of the room, so that already on the 16th minute it turns out something little similar to human speech.

I am recording the sound of my speaking voice and I am going to play it back into the room again and again until the resonant frequencies of the room reinforce themselves so that any semblance of my speech, with perhaps the exception of rhythm, is destroyed. What you will hear, then, are the natural resonant frequencies of the room articulated by speech. I regard this activity not so much as a demonstration of a physical fact, but more as a way to smooth out any irregularities my speech might have.
