Вокалист Кенни Шилдс начал музыкальную карьеру в 60-х годах, возглавив команду "Witness Incorporated". Vocalist Kenny Shields began his musical career in the 60s, leading the band Witness Incorporated. This group actively toured Canada, performed with Cream and Roy Orbison and released several singles. The team was on the rise when Shields got into a car accident and was out of the game for several years. Ken fully recovered by the mid-70s, but, having recovered, he immediately returned to his favorite business. After several false starts, he revived "Wintess Inc" featuring Ken "Spider" Sinnawe, Daryl Guthale and Craig Kalil. The team had already started touring when Paul Dean and Matt Frenette appeared on Shields' path. Meeting these musicians led to the closure of the previous project and the creation of a new one called “Streetheart” in its place.

The “street hearts” spent a couple of years performing concerts and winning over audiences, and in 1978 they debuted with the album “Meanwhile Back In Paris”. The album, released on Atlantic Records, received good reviews, but the band made its first serious breakthrough with the single "Under My Thumb".

This song, borrowed from the Rolling Stones' repertoire, entered the national Top 5, and the EP received gold status. Meanwhile, Dean left to organize "Loverboy", and on the second album "Streetheart" John Hannah was already listed as a guitarist. "Under Heaven Over Hell" went platinum in Canada thanks to such hits as "Hollywood", "Here Comes The Night" and the same "Under My Thumb". However, fluctuations in the lineup continued and soon Frenette, who fled to “Loverboy,” was replaced by Herb Ego. The "Quicksand Shoes" disc, recorded by the updated lineup, contained good material, but due to the lack of bright hits, the work only reached the gold mark.

Of course, the musicians were not pleased with the decline in sales and, having moved under the roof of Capitol Records, they began producing the next album on their own. As a result, such good songs as “Tin Soldier”, “Trouble”, “Teenage Rage” were born, and the long-play itself brought the band a third platinum.

In 1981, Atlantic Records dropped the Best Of Streetheart compilation, and in the meantime the band changed guitarist to Geoff Neal. With his help, Streetheart released their self-titled album, which became their biggest commercial achievement. The work contained a whole bunch of hits (“Miss Plaza Suite”, “What Kind Of Love Is This”, “Snow White”, “Look In Your Eyes”, “One More Time”), and its circulation crossed the platinum mark twice. Unfortunately, it was not possible to consolidate the success, and the 1983 studio album "Dancing With Danger" turned out to be a failure. Attempts to conquer the American market also failed, and after the release of the double live album "Live After Dark", the group broke up.


В честь этого события "Capitol Records" выпустила сборник ауттэйков и анрелизов "Buried Treasure", а спустя пять лет фирма состряпала еще одну компиляцию, "Over 60 Minutes With... Streetheart" (полустудийник-полуконцертник). In honor of this event, Capitol Records released a collection of outtakes and unreleases, Buried Treasure, and five years later the company put together another compilation, Over 60 Minutes With... Streetheart (half studio, half live). In 2003, "Streetheart" was inducted into the "Western Canadian Hall of Fame" and after this event, Shields, Guthail and Neil, with the participation of new musicians, revived the project.
