Незримое видел и скрытое ведал,

И нам рассказал о днях до потопа.
And he told us about the days before the flood.


И славят его «Гильгамеш -сотворитель»
And glorify him "Gilgamesh -Speaker"
Мощь человечью собой представляет
The power of human is itself
И в образе Шамаша ночь покоряет.
And in the image of Shamash, the night conquers the night.
Он с другом своим – полузверем Энкиду
He is with his friend - Enkidu


Но темных дней спустилась пелена –
But the dark days came down a veil -
Энкиду верного Эрешкигаль схватила.
Enkidu of the faithful Ereshkigal grabbed.
И горьких дум теперь душа полна,
And the bitter thoughts are now full of soul,
И вышел в путь Гильгамеш, собрав все силы,
And Gilgamesh went on the road, collecting all his strength,


Цель - бессмертье отыскать,
The goal is to find immortality,
От гибели своей найти спасенье.
From his death to find salvation.
Набревши на старца, пленился рассказом
Breeding to the old man, captivated by a story
Об Утнапишти, бессмертном великом
About Utnapishti, the immortal great


Продолжив свой путь, оказался пред садом,
Continuing his way, turned out to be before the garden
И встретил там стража – богиню Сидури,
And the guard met there - the goddess Siduri,
Совет получить премудрый желает
The advice is wise to get
Сидури славная с удивлением вещает.
Siduri glorious broadcasts in surprise.


"Как оказался ты у дальних берегов,
"As you turned out to be off the far shores,
Дорогу одолел с каким стремленьем?
Did you defeat the road with what aspiration?
Как реки полные сумел ты переплыть?
How did you manage to cross the full rivers?
Глаголь! Не смея правды утаить!"

"Твои мечты напрасны, Гильгамеш!
"Your dreams are in vain, Gilgamesh!
И изначально поиски – пустые!
And initially the searches are empty!
Прислушайся, сумей уразуметь,
Listen, be able to understand,
Словам внемли и усмири гордыню.
Increased and dedicated pride.


Сидури слова его крепко задели.
Siduri's words touched him tightly.
Не в силах смириться с правдою злой,
Unable to put up with the truth evil,
Забыв обо всем, он опустился на колени.
Forgetting everything, he knelt down.
В бессилии диком излился слезой.
In impotence, Wildly poured out a tear.
