Судьбой заброшены, забытые навеки –
Abandoned by fate, forgotten forever -
Чертоги Хаоса – немая пустота.
The Halls of Chaos are a silent void.
Во мгле, что пребывает в вечном беге,
In the darkness that is in eternal flight,
Богам возникнуть настала череда.
It was the gods' turn to emerge.


И Эйя – Бог – не смог забыть бесчестность,
And Eya - God - could not forget dishonesty,
Великой хитростью Апсу одолел,
By great cunning he overcame Apsu,
А Тиамат пришлось покинуть местность,
And Tiamat had to leave the area,
Бежать в пустыню был ее удел.
It was her destiny to flee into the desert.


С костьми убитого поступили сурово:
The bones of the dead man were treated harshly:
Возвел свой храм и поселилися в нем.
He built his own temple and settled in it.
И здесь, в тиши пристанища глухого
And here, in the silence of the deaf man's refuge
Мардук родился – будущий герой.
Marduk was born - the future hero.


Но страх царит над этим новым миром:
But fear reigns over this new world:
Готовит месть в пустыне Тиамат.
Preparing revenge in the desert of Tiamat.
В раздумьях Боги. Мыслию томимы,
Gods are in thought. I'm tormented by thoughts,
Героев кличут, битву дать хотят.
They call for heroes, they want to give battle.
С охотой пылкой Мардук согласился.
Marduk agreed with eagerness and fervor.
Но плату сделал слишком непростой.
But I made the board too complicated.


«Если мстить за вас стану,
"If I take revenge for you,
Чтоб Тиамат осилить и победить, –
To overcome and defeat Tiamat, -
Соберите Совет, возвысите мой жребий,
Gather the Council, raise my lot,
Мое Слово, как ваше, да решает все судьбы,
My Word, like yours, decides all destinies,
Неизменным да будет все то,
May all that remain unchanged
Что воссоздам я!
What I will recreate!
И никто приказ моих уст не отменит»
And no one can cancel the order of my lips.”


Они собрались и отправились вместе,
They got together and went together
Все великие боги, что решают судьбы,
All the great gods who decide destinies
Повели беседы, на пиру воссели,
We had conversations, sat down at a feast,
И Мардуку вручили судьбы…
And Marduk was handed fate...


Мардук в свои уста вложил заклятье,
Marduk put a spell in his mouth,
В свои персты вложил он яд-траву,
He put poisonous grass in his fingers,
Семь буйных бурь собрал он в одночасье,
He gathered seven violent storms overnight,
Решеньем тверд – снять с Тиамат главу.
The decision is firm - to remove the chapter from Tiamat.


Ее тело раздулось, ее пасть раскрылась.
Her body swelled, her mouth opened.
Он пустил в нее стрелу и рассек ей чрево.
He shot an arrow at her and cut her womb.
Он нутро ей взрезал, завладел ее сердцем.
He cut her insides, captured her heart.
Ее он осилил, ей жизнь оборвал он.
He overpowered her, he ended her life.


Так создал он небо,
This is how he created the sky,
Так создал он землю,
So he created the earth,
Назначил ритуалы,
Prescribed rituals
Установил свой порядок.
He established his own order.


Не постичь его сердце,
Can't comprehend his heart
Не объять его разум,
Can't comprehend his mind
Да восславят навеки,
May they be praised forever,
Имя его Мардук.
His name is Marduk.
