And he looked up, and saw the rich casting their gifts into the treasury;

and he saw also a poor widow casting therein two mites;

and he said, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast in more than all they:

for all these of their abundance cast in gifts unto God: but she of her poverty cast in all the living that she had.

And when some spake of the temple, that it was adorned with costly stones and gifts, he said,

The days will come, in the which of these things which ye see here, there shall not be left one stone upon another; all shall be thrown down.

And they asked him, Master, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign when these things shall take place?

He said, Take heed lest ye be deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am he: and the time is at hand: go not after them.

When you hear of wars and troubles, do not be afraid, for these things must first happen; but the end will not be immediate.

Then He said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.

There will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines, and pestilences, and fearful sights, and great signs from heaven.

But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, and bringing you before kings and governors for My name’s sake.

And this will be for a testimony to you.

Therefore set your hearts not to meditate beforehand what you will answer.

For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist.

You will be delivered up both by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and some of you they will put to death.

and ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake,

yet not a hair of your head shall perish:

by your patience ye shall possess your lives.

And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed about with armies, then know ye that the desolation thereof is at hand:

Then let them that are in Judah flee to the mountains: and let them that are in the city go out of it: and let them that are in the country not enter it:

For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days: for there shall be great distress upon the earth, and wrath upon this people:

And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars: and upon the earth distress of nations, and perplexity: and the sea shall roar, and be troubled:

people will faint from fear and expectation of the disasters that are coming on the world, for the powers of heaven will be shaken,

and then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

When these things begin to happen, then look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.

And he spoke a parable to them: Look at the fig tree and all the trees:

When they now put forth their buds, you see it and know yourselves that summer is near.

So too, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near.

Truly I say to you, This generation will not pass away until all these things take place.

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

But take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that Day come upon you unawares,

for it shall come as a snare upon all them that dwell upon the whole face of the earth.

Watch therefore always, and pray, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.

He taught in the daytime in the temple, and spent the nights going out upon the mount called Olivet.
